Northern Rangers football Club is based in Launceston , Tasmania and play their home games at the NTCA sports complex found off Race Course Crescent . The facilities consist of two main playing arenas known as the No1 and No2 grounds. These both facilitate Olympic size football pitches that enable Rangers to capitalise on our high level of fitness and accommodate our open style of match play. The No 1 ground is where we do most of our training and play home games.
We share facilities with co user of the NTCA Old Scotch Football Club and have formed a strong relationship with them. The No 1 ground would be considered as one of the best football facilities in the north with a number of covered grand stands for spectators, a large score board, excellent indoor viewing areas and a fantastic ground to play on. This is where Rangers play almost all home games at the moment and is an inspirational place to play your football.
The club has over 100 registered players in Senior, Reserve, Women's Division 1 and Under 18 competition, competing in the Northern Premier League. Over 100 juniors on the books for under 16 under 14 and Under 12 competitions. We also have around 250 kids running around at our junior SSG competition in Riverside , the NTCSL (Northern Tasmanian Christian Soccer League). Ages range from under 7's to under 12's boys and girls. Kids come from Exeter primary and high school, Launceston Christian school, John Calvin school, Sacred Heart primary school and the Christian Academy along with individuals that want to play in a less competitive environment. Juniors are then encouraged to go on to the Rangers under 14 squad to play the game in an 11 a side format and continue enjoying the game of football at the highest level as they grow older. The end goal for most of our youngsters is to finally end up playing in the Senior Men's and Women's squads for the Northern Rangers. As you may see we have a fool proof system in place that allows kids to enjoy football for what it is "A Game" at junior level and make the steps to senior level in a secure well supported environment. Seniors and Reserves conduct coaching clinics during the year and all the juniors are encouraged to come and watch the Seniors play.
Rangers have a vibrant social side also. We run a couple of trivia nights a year which have been known to involve a solid dose of karaoke, End of year vote counts and season dinner. And the lads frequently get together in the off season and during the normal season for BBQ's, Cards and just about any excuse to have a beer with the Rangers.
As you may see from the history link we are only young being in existence at a senior level since only 1999. But this doesn't mean sub standard facilities. We pride our self on our match day presentation, meaning our strips are always up to date and fashionable. Our training equipment is kept at a high standard and the club offers Jackets and Polo tops and other supporters gear. |
