Under 14's Win McDonalds Cup

Under_14s_cup_winnersWell done to the Northern Rangers Under 14's who took out their age groups McDonalds Cup on the weekend, triumphing over Riverside 2-0 in a fine effort.  NTJSA manager Rod Foulton said after the game, “The game never reached the standard it should have, but if you can win a pressure match like this playing well below your best, the season ahead looks promising.”

Mitch Billing has been working with these boys all year and this is a great reward for the teams commitment and dedication so far and we look forward to more success during the season.

In other NTJSA news,

Under 12 boys were better organised in defence this week and made some nice moves down their wings. Josh Hyatt was best in a a 3-1 win, with the opposition goal coming later as the boys began to tire, which is a problem that the team is addressing.

Under 14 Red won the McDonald's Cup final 2-0, in an underwhelming performance. The game never reached the standard it should have, but if you can win a pressure match like this playing well below your best, the season ahead looks promising.

Under 14 Blue came away with an 11-0 win. These boys are goal scoring machines but are still playing end to end football. Will need to improve their possession game to beat the better sides, but if they can do that, anything is possible.
Under 14 White played  with 8 players and were 3-0 down at half time having played some very smart football. The opposition loaned us 2 of their boys in a very sporting gesture for the second half, and the score at the end was 4-1. With a full side they will threaten the league.

Senior Girls didn't deserve to go down 2-1. Controlled much of the game, with the opposition playing counter attacking football. Still need to work on using the wings and overlapping out of the back, but showing promise. Leah Heys outstanding.

Under 16 Red started the game about 5 minutes after their opposition and were 2 nil down before they woke up. Scratched out an ordinary first half, then blew the game away in the second with their best half for the year. Won 3-2 but should have been more. Josh Hinds was again unstoppable.

Under 16 Blue went down by a small margin to a faster opponent, but are playing better football than they have all year. Once combined with their size and strength, if they can move the ball as well as they have in the last couple of weeks, they are capable of beating any opponent.
