Northern Rangers defeated Launceston United in the final round of the Steve Hudson Cup.  Launceston and Rangers rested many of their senior group, with Rangers leaving out Mark Ambrose, Todd Hingston and Derek Schipper, while they lost the services of Luke Tuma in the first minute of the game to injury, and mid-way through the first half Stefan Jago was victim of some disgraceful Launceston tackling and he also could take no further part.

Chris hunt was back in the line-up with Adam Beard but Adam Whitemore opted not to fill the bench this week.

Rangers hit the lead after a slow start thanks to Sam Luck from the corner.  Patty Lanau-Atkinson sent in the corner and Luck rose to slam the ball into the defender at the back post, but forced the ball over the line with some force.

Josh vanZetten was next to score when he rose above the defenders in box and headed home the ball for 2-0.

A shocking late tackle from the Launceston defender brought Stefan Jago down and Jago sustained an injury, Andrew Nicholson placed the spot kick into the net to settle the argument and the half time score at 3-0.

The Second half saw Rangers struggle a little for intensity, while they created plenty of chances, there was little in the way of finishing going on.

A hand ball in the box by Launceston gifted Rangers a second penalty but this time Patty Lanau-Atkinson struck the upright with the chance.  Patty however made up for the miss with a goal late in the game to make it 4-0.
