The Turkish XI Vs Captain Australia's IX Twenty/20 cricket series starts on January 3 at Trevallyn Cricket club at 5pm, with a BBQ between the innings and a few light refreshments and the end of the game.  Game two of the series obviously will be on the above date the 7th of Jan.  Please bring $5 each to cover ground hire and ball costs for each game you play in.  Teams will be finalised soon based on available players.

Tasmania's Under 21 side took to the park for their third game in the 4 match exhibition series at the weekend against a far better fancied Melbourne Victory youth squad, and came away with their second consecutive win.  Thanks in part to Northern Rangers star, and fast becoming one of the favorite sons at Rangerland.  Ambrose was set up from Daniel White on the right with a pin point cross, that was met by the head of Ambrose and placed perfectly into the net.

The goal is Ambrose's first at State Level and sent the home fans into a frenzy.  In an interview with Win Television, Ambrose selflessly said, it was the work of the rest of the team, and that he was just in the right place at the right time, still it was a sensational goal, from a striker who doesn't score a lot from the forehead.

Mark made the most of his opportunity and has earned the right to go to Adelaide later this month to play Adelaide United.  On behalf of Northern Rangers, Well done Funky and Wow wow wow wow!!!

Marshall Pooley was unfortunately ruled out of the clash and any future involvement this year with a hamstring injury.

Northern Rangers Announce Roslan Sa'ad as 2009 manager.

11/09/08

Roslan Saad, 2009 Senior Coach of Northern Rangers  Roslan Sa'ad will Coach the Northern Rangers senior side in 2009.  The club will benefit from the wealth of experience he has gained throughout Asia and his AFC B licence accreditation.

Northern Rangers proudly announce the appointment of Roslan Sa'ad as the 2009 Senior Coach of the club.  Promoting him from the Under 18 position this year, in which he impressed the entire committee and management of the club.

After three years of solid work with the senior group, Mitchell Billing has moved aside to develop the junior department of the club, taking on the Under 18 position for the 2009 season, and his role further within the club will be defined later this month with the committee.

Roslan Sa'ad came to the club through the clubs official web site.  He moved here to Tasmania to study at the University of Tasmania in 2008.  In 2008 Sa'ad has taken the Under 18's from achieving just one point in the 07 season, to 22 points including 6 wins and 4 draws, plus the leagues best defensive record from all teams.  The under 18's under his guidance took points off every team over the season with only one exception being Somerset Sharks.

Sa'ad holds an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) B licence in coaching, making him one of the highest qualified coaches in the state at present.  His experience has seen him coach in Singapore's S-League under 18 competition with professional outfit Gombak United, take the Singapore national under 12 boys side to the Asian Junior competition in Japan in 2006, plus the Singapore under 11 and 12's to the Asian primary school sports Olympiad in Jakarta, plus many more achievements.

Pre season training dates will be posted soon once Roslan has decided on his plans for the 2009 season, but players are encouraged to continue checking back here for all the info needed.

"On behalf of the club, we congratulate Roslan on his promotion from the Under 18's and appointment as the 2009 Senior Coach of the Northern Rangers Football Club. Roslan is seen as a key part of our strategic plan as we strive to secure that elusive senior title in 2009" Club Secretary Brendan Lichtendonk said.

About the Northern Rangers football Club

Northern Rangers football Club is based in Launceston , Tasmania and play their home games at the NTCA sports complex found off Race CourseThe NTCA No1 ground Crescent . The facilities consist of two main playing arenas known as the No1 and No2 grounds. These both facilitate Olympic size football pitches that enable Rangers to capitalise on our high level of fitness and accommodate our open style of match play.

The No 1 ground is where we do most of our training and play home games.  We share facilities with co user of the NTCA Old Scotch Football Club and have formed a strong relationship with them. The No 1 ground would be considered as one of the best football facilities in the north with a number of covered grand stands for spectators, a large score board, excellent indoor viewing areas and a fantastic ground to play on. This is where Rangers play almost all home games at the moment and is an inspirational place to play your football.

The club has around 70 registered players in Senior, Reserve, Division 3 and Under 18 competition, competing in the Northern Premier League. Over 40 juniors on the books for under 16 and under 14 competitions. We also have around 250 kids running around at our junior 6-a-side competition in Riverside , the NTCSL (Northern Tasmanian Christian Soccer League). Ages range from under 8's to under 14's boys and girls. Kids come from Exeter primary and high school, Launceston Christian school, John Calvin school, Sacred Heart primary school and the Christian Academy along with individuals that want to play in a less competitive environment. The David Boon standJuniors are then encouraged to go on to the Rangers under 14 squad to play the game in an 11 a side format and continue enjoying the game of football at the highest level as they grow older. The end goal for most of our youngsters is to finally end up playing in the Senior squad for the Northern Rangers. As you may see we have a fool proof system in place that allows kids to enjoy football for what it is "A Game" at junior level and make the steps to senior level in a secure well supported environment. Seniors and Reserves conduct coaching clinics during the year and all the juniors are encouraged to come and watch the Seniors play.

Rangers have a vibrant social side also. We run a couple of trivia nights a year which have been known to involve a solid dose of karaoke. Bus trips are also a mighty riot when returning from the coastal away games. End of year vote counts and season dinner. And the lads frequently get together in the off season and during the normal season for BBQ's, Cards and just about any excuse to have a beer with the Rangers.

As you may see from the history link we are only young being in existence at a senior level since only 1999. But this doesn't mean sub standard facilities. We pride our self on our match day presentation, meaning our strips are always up to date and fashionable. Our training equipment is kept at a high standard and the club offers Jackets and Polo tops with club logos and players nicknames.
