Rangers held at home in under 18s

Rangers were players short and were again looking to the Junior ranks for players. Having given 4 the opportunity to play last week, 2 remained with the addition of Wade Larkins and Rory Ward for this week’s game.

With 2nd top playing 2nd bottom it would have been easy to write-off the result before the start of the game but as things go in this wonderful game, this was very much a non event.

In previous weeks Rangers have come out hungry and determined but not this time. From the start, Rangers began in second gear and never really looked like going up a gear, passing from both sides left a lot to be desired, keepers were not really tested and only a couple of shots at each end made for an ordinary half.

In the second half much was expected, while the game remained much as before both sides came a bit closer with each side hitting the post but overall these sides could have played all day and never got a goal.

This result was very much in favour of City who managed to contain Rangers who won the earlier round 10-2 and added to this, the result would have assisted United but even they failed to manage to capitalize on this result, giving Rangers a life-line.

While Coach John Crooks was disappointed in the result he reported that senior player Todd Hingston had commented to him on the performance of some individuals in the team which was very positive for the future playing squad of Northern Rangers.
