Northern Rangers 8 (John Wani 2, Hayden Van Der Velde 2, Shinash Tumzghi 2, Kaleb Barraccu, David Kanu.) def Somerset 1
With NRFC having the bye next week it made this game all the more important, a good result was needed for them to keep pressure on the League leaders who only managed a 2-1 away win in Somerset. Keeping this in mind Rangers were aware that to ensure of full points from this game they would have to make sure the chances created were not thrown away as they have been in the last couple of games.
A few players were unavailable this week, which gave opportunity for some others to get more game time than they had been. From the kick-off Rangers attempted to settle into the style of play they have been working on and with them on their home ground began by pushing the ball around with the back four looking more comfortable on the large ground and making time to switch the ball around with midfield assistance.
However, it was Somerset that opened the scoring on the 22nd minute, just minutes after Coach John Crooks had made 3 changes to the side to give them more options and as previous results have shown this must be a concern for the side, and only after this opening goal while Rangers were dominating, but without any real urgency in their play did they up the tempo and begin to look like a team who wanted to win. Kaleb Barraccu who had just come on, managed to round the Somerset keeper with 2 defenders chasing and slotted the ball into the net to bring the score even on the 26th minute. From here Rangers created many chances and goal mouth action from a number of corner kicks in quick succession with leading goal scorers John Wani and Hayden Vanderveld along with David Kanu getting on the score sheet before half-time.
Due to a first half injury to central defender Adam Letter, Rangers began the 2nd half with more changes to the back four and the new line-up were under some early pressure as they tried to settle into the game and as in the first half Rangers were not able to add to the score line then on the 65th minute, again after the substitutions Rangers were again looking dangerous with the front three players John Wani, Hayden Vanderveld and Shinash Tumzghi getting 1 goal apiece.
Before the day ended Shinash Tumzghi completed the scoring after collecting a pass on the half-way line and running a full half of the ground with defenders chasing he remained in control as he rounded the keeper at pace.
