Top of Table Burnie too Strong for Rangers

The Under 18’s battled hard against Burnie United who are top of the league at present, with several key players missing, the Under 18’s had a great chance to debut German youth imports Joshua Kühnel and Loris Hoffmann.  Both performed well in their first senior group outing, after helping the Under 16’s to victory the night before.

joshRangers went down first to Burnie but hit back well to level the scores.

Burnie were pressing hard and eventually got into the lead late in the first half when a free kick was awarded just outside the 18 yard box.  Alex Bligh made a great diving save, but the parry was fired in from close Range.

Burnie scored again before half time with a great through ball and goal.

No further goals in the second half, but Rangers battled well to keep themselves in the match,  Coach Crooks and Otley adversely affected by the shortage in the reserves and had to conserve Tom Burk for a start in the Reserve game and Tenzing Anderson for the bench, arguably the sides best players, but the experience the boys will get from playing at the next level will no doubt be valuable to both the individuals as well as the side as a whole.

3-1 the final result, always a tough day at the office when going to Montello.
